This book is mostly about George's elephant friend Kayla that misses her family and she is trying to find them.

In the beginning George is going to a magic show. At the magic show a baby elephant, Kayla, is in a trick where she disappears. After the show George ran backstage to find her, there she was. But Kayla was homesick for her family who lived in the California Animal Park. George and Kayla went to the train to go find her family. The man in the yellow hat didn't know to go, but they went anyway.

Finally they got there and Kayla was very happy. But Kayla couldn't stay. So George made her family go back with her to do the magic show all together.

In this Magic Tree House book Jack and Annie get into trouble by wishing to go somewhere in a book without reading the cover. When the magic tree house took them there they were surprised to find themselves in the time of the pirates. Captain Bones captured both of them and the only way to get out of this mess was to figure out the riddle on the map. Once they figured out the riddle the pirates start digging there immediately. Suddenly in the middle of their digging a storm blew in. The Pirates all jumped into the paddle boat to paddle to the ship, but they left Jack and Annie. That gave the brother and sister time to escape. Jack and Annie raced to the tree house and wished they could go home. And they did.
